Did you get told any myths about food when you where a child? When i was younger my dad, always used to tell me fibs and stories about food to either make me eat things i didnt like or maybe just to stop me form asking questions. E.g Carrots make you see in the dark, The crusts of bread make your hair go curly, Is this somethign all parents do? What stories or fibs did your parents tell you? or do you tell your children?

- Yeah i think its pretty much all parents lool.. like the carrots one i got told that,, and brussells make you stronger thats all i can think of atm lol
- They told me that spinich would make me grow tall and strong... yet i am short and weak... (weak is my fault though rofl) ... Oh wellz
- Yeah I got told those lies aswell, I was a smart ass though "but mum I don't want curly hair"haha Also got told that brussel sprouts will put hairs on my chest. I'm a girl so that wasn't very convincing
- The thing about carrots isn't so much of a myth, they DO have a certain vitamin in that helps your eyes, dunno about seeing in the dark though. Your question reminded me of a time when I wanted some pop/soft drink when I was a kid, and my father told me that I couldn't because the Soya sauce I'd eaten would kill me... He was a greedy ba**rd :(
- YES. My parents made up a whopper of a tale and I fell for it for years. My mom used to buy whole chickens and cut them up for our meals. She fried chicken fairly often. My parents liked the breasts, legs and thighs because they had more meat. So they told me that if I ate the chicken wings that someday I would grow wings and fly. The wings have very little meat on them anyway and they wanted to get rid of them. Every time we had chicken I would beg for the wings. After dinner I remember running and looking in the mirror to see if my wings had sprouted yet. I imagined the day that I would have real wings to fly. Finally (after years of meals) I figured it out. I've had an aversion to chicken wings ever since. When I bring up the subject around my dad he just starts giggling like a guilty schoolboy (he's now 77). They got me on that one.
- fish was brain food carrots good for your eyes and spinage makes you stronger dam you Popeye
- The heel (nose) of the loaf of bread makes your hair curly. We were told Spam was buffalo meat and we continued to call it that long after we knew that it wasn't so. Carrots do promote good eyesight and fish is brain food, by the way.
