Tattoo myths and funny stories???

Hey, tell me/us funny tattoo stories that you've heard about or have happened to you. I was in a tattoo shop when a man came in to complain. The man came in to get his girlfriends name put on his arm, it was his first tattoo so he was really nervous i guess. Anyway he was told to write down his girlfriends name but because he was so nervous he wrote his ex's name instead. He ended up with a crazy tattoo with his ex's name and loads of heart and things round it. The only tattoo myth i've heard is that you NEVER connect a tattooed armband you always leave a gap. Something to do with it you close the band your trapping the evil inside. So what stories or myths have you heard about??? Best answer gets 10pts!!!!

  1. Actually, only certain people have the "right" to have a band completed. It's an old prison thing. If you see someone with an open band, or barbed wire, they got the tattoo for fun. If you see that the band or wire is closed, it means that they have been to prison, not jail but real prison. The number of barbs indicate the number of years they have spent in prison. I watched a guy go to a skin head tattoo parlor. He was there to get a star of David tattoo. There were swastikas all over the place, the tattoo artist had a giant one on his head (he was also wearing laces and braces). The guy who owned the parlor had no problems with doing any tattoos for money. The only rules he had were no talking about religion or politics. The guy started right in with his political beliefs and why he was right and everyone else was wrong. He was warned twice. The guy kept running his mouth, the artist started to run the needles deeper. I think he finally hit bone.
  2. Just a few days ago I was waiting for a train. A guy came to me, and I could see that he was halfway of getting drunk. He asked me what I had on my arm (Big black stripes). I wasn't going for the whole explanation thing about the meaning of it because it's quite a long story so I just smiled and said "stripes". I looked at his arm and there I saw this horrible looking thing that vaguely resembled a huge bird. I asked him: "So, and what do you have on your arm then?" He started to grin. He said: "Well, my friend made this tattoo and i ended up in the hospital for one week." Of course that raised my eyebrows and I asked him what he meant. He said: "Well, I was drinking very heavy that night and somehow me and my mate decided to do a tattoo on me. My mate fixed a few needles to his shaving machine and then he started. But we where so heavily drunk, we had so much alcohol in our blood that it should have killed us. So halfway the tattoo I fell asleep, and so did he, and someone called an ambulance and they found me in a pool of blood. I was in the hospital for a week to recover." I looked at him, and at the tattoo, and I could see those lines going crazy on his arm. I asked him if he could still remember doing it and he said: "Only the beginning" and he pointed at a very small bit of the tattoo, that somehow didn't even looked that bad. I just grinned at him. Then the train arrived. I told him that at least he had a good story to tell. He smiled at me, happy with my comment. I got in the train and that was it.
  3. a old friend of mine who was obsessed with ICP( music group) wanted to get "physco b" across his stomach he ended up with phyco b instead and didnt realize until we pointed it out lol he's not the sharpest tool in the shed
  4. The myth that bugs me the most is the one that is going around to females: *read in a nasaly whiny voice* "if you have a lower back tattoo, you can't get an epidural when you are in labor cuz it won't work" Now who the eff told them that??? I never heard that until answering ??? on here. I have a lower back tattoo, and two successful(until the whole crowning part of labor...OOOWWWEEE!!!)epidurals.
  5. I had wanted a cute tattoo for the longest time, but was too chicken. I had way too much to drink one night and got a tattoo... a big blue chevrolet sign (bowtie) on my hip! My b/f always makes fun of me. If we're in the shower together or somethin he'll start singin "Like a Rock."
  6. I got my first tattoo on my hip. It was a small butterfly to signify that I had become an adult and overcome. When It came to which way the butterfly would be placed...my tattoo artist asked if I wanted it to fly into the bush or out of the bush...I could have died!
  7. Alright, this actually happened in my hometown and yes, the tattoo shop did get sued and ended up closing down. One of the artists and his gf had been dating for a few years until he found out she cheated on him. Few days later, I guess she thought it would be a nice kick in the nuts but she came in to get a tattoo done by him on her back......of her new mans name. So the artist said sure choosing to ignore the stab at him and started the work. couple hours later she got up laughed said have a nice life and left...I guess after she left she was walking down the street and decided to turn and look in a window to see the new tat and when she did all she saw was S*L*U*T written across her back in nice black deeply colored ink. So yea again needless to say that tattoo shop isn't around anymore.
  8. Here is what I found when I looked up lower back tattoos and epidurals for pregnant women. Q. Lower Back Tattoos and Epidurals? From Karen Hudson, Your Guide to Tattoos / Body Piercings. FREE Newsletter. Sign Up Now! If you have a lower back (lumbar) tattoo, does that mean you can't get an epidural? A. I had to look this one up because it was something I had never heard before when I was emailed this question back in 2003. Since then, it's come up a lot. PubMed apparently did some research on this theory and concluded that there are no conclusions and no proof to substantiate this theory. BME quickly dismisses this as an urban legend, but one pervasive enough that even doctors have been known to believe it. Tattooz.net's medical expert says, "The needle would go through the epidermis, dermis and into the areas where the anesthesia is infiltrated without difficulty", but wisely advises that anyone in this situation get personal professional advice from their own anesthesiologist.Does that mean that some doctors won't still refuse to administer an epidural if the patient has a lower back tattoo? Of course not. As stated above, the belief that the practice is somehow dangerous - despite research and evidence to the contrary - is strong enough that even anesthesiologists have been known to err on the side of caution and refuse to attempt it.
