1. the Bogey man is a made up story to freak kids out on halloween
2. My mother would wind us up with stories like that. But she was too descriptive and we were on a bus and an exact copy of the boogey man got on the bus. And we escaped from the back of the bus, with a very angry mother and a bus driver chasing us. 4 of us ran a mile home!
3. We call him the bogey man in the UK rather than the boogey man who sounds like rather a funky dancing dude! The bogey man is a real man, but someone very sinister who preys on young children and does bad things to them. I don't think kids get told bogey stories anymore and wouldn't be scared of them anyway. When I was a kid 30+ years ago he was very real in our heads and the fear of him made us behave well, like getting home before it was dark.
4. He lives under your bed, if you stay up too late and don't go to sleep he comes up and takes you away! So don't play in your bedroom once you've been sent to bed!
